Live and Heal in Accordance With Your Faith

Faith is a value for you and it is intertwined with how you live your life. It’s a value that you bring into session and guides your life. Therefore, it’s not something that can be seen as separate from your healing and you’re looking for a therapist who understands that.

It may be difficult to find a therapist who understands the important role faith plays in your life. Maybe you fear being judged for your beliefs.

I have worked with clients who are Muslim, Christian, and Catholic. They have all shared that incorporating their faith into therapy was helpful for them and it appeared to deepen the benefits of therapy. Some have mentioned that they never thought it was an option before or felt that they could bring it up. Many feel comforted and understood to talk with someone who values faith as well and understands their values, how they live, and the reasons behind it.

Schedule a free consultation call with me and we can discuss how to incorporate your faith into therapy and determine if it would be a good fit for you.

How Does Faith-Based Counseling Work?

Many religions/faiths have overlapping core values. I will work with you to learn and understand how your faith plays a role in your life including how you currently use it to cope. We will then tailor treatment to incorporate faith that best suits you and your goals for therapy.

Viewing your concerns through the lens of your faith can offer different perspectives to help you find a solution. Faith can also help us create coping strategies that are unique and specific to you and your concerns. Faith creates a greater sense of purpose and an ultimate goal for life which is vital in the healing process.

We can infuse faith into therapy by:

Practicing gratitude for what we have. What we focus on tends to become magnified, noticing our blessings will make us more receptive.

Reflecting on religious texts, passages, and scriptures to understand ourselves and the world more deeply.

Finding new ways to connect with God and feel His support when you’re feeling lost, confused, isolated, and worried.

Viewing faith from the lens of love. Because even when we fall short, He doesn’t neglect us; despite being taught faith through the lens of fear.

  • Although I am not an expert in faith, I find that my expertise in counseling as well as my knowledge of Islam and your knowledge about your own religion works hand in hand. I am continuously learning and growing within my faith. I will bring in what I learn and you will bring your knowledge as well. This approach will be collaborative and catered specifically to you. My expertise is in counseling so my approach leans more towards psychology. If you are looking for more religious guidance, speaking with a religious leader could supplement therapy.
